Here at the State Sports Centres Trust, we are dedicated to creating exceptional experiences for athletes, teams, and spectators.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Venue Operations Manager to join our team at the State Basketball Centre (SBC) located in Knox.

As the Venue Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the redeveloped and expanded SBC.


About the role:


Reporting to the General Manager Venues, and collaborating closely with the Facilities Manager SBC, you will be responsible for developing and executing the operational plan for the venue.

Your role will encompass stakeholder relationship management, oversight of daily operations, optimising venue utilisation, and driving outstanding customer service. You will also lead a team, manage safety and compliance, and contribute to the overall success of the venue.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, sports partners and clients
  • Manage facility utilisation to maximise venue access while maintaining high standards
  • Lead venue presentation and preparation activities including set up and pack down of events
  • Oversee venue facilities, including maintenance, cleaning, security and landscaping
  • Develop and deliver exceptional customer service throughout the venue
  • Collaborate with the Events & Bookings team to enhance client relationships and boost venue utilisation
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety, Risk, and Emergency Management procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes
  • Lead, develop, and empower team members in alignment with organisational values.

About you:


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, events, project management, hospitality, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 7 years' operational leadership experience in a customerfocused venue/events environment.
  • A track record of leading teams to achieve exceptional results.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with Sports and Recreation industry (preferred).
  • Understanding of Public Sector/Governance frameworks (advantageous)
