The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team


You will join a team of staff across the country that ensures the proper conduct of the election and upholds the Electoral Integrity Framework.

You will work across a diverse and dispersed network, working closely with our State Office, National Office and the other states and territories.


The Opportunities


The AEC is seeking a motivated and resilient person with the demonstrated ability to contribute to organisational outcomes and work collaboratively, supporting the Team Leader and working within a small team.

A demonstrated commitment to building sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders whilst working collaboratively with peers and staff is also required.


The Divisional Project Officer will be responsible for general administrative tasks, project management, team leadership, and delivery of staff training.

At the direction of the Team Leader, you will also assist with other duties as required to support the successful delivery of the election.


During the non-election period the focus is firmly on enrolment management, comprehensive election planning and other ongoing projects leading up to the announcement of the election.

The Divisional Project Officer will actively train and mentor staff to ensure they are undertaking their work according to legislation, policy, and procedure, whilst also making broader contributions to the review and refinement of internal policies and procedures.
