VIC Local Council in the search for a highly capable individuals to join as a
Labourer (Asphalting) located in
Clifton Hill, VIC.



What's in it for you:


  • 1 month assignment, with opportunity for contract to be extended
- $35.71 per hour + super

  • Monday

  • Friday, 38 hours per week, 6:30am 3:30pm

About the role:


  • To make a significant contribution to the Engineering Operations Branch within the Road Services Unit by maintaining the condition, cleanliness and general appearance of Council's roads and associated infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Inspect and repair potholes within asphalt road/footpath/car park pavements.
  • Maintenance/Reinstatement of asphalt pavements.
  • Ensure all asphalt reinstatements are sawcut, of appropriate depth, and compacted and shaped in accordance with accepted industry and Council standards.
  • Removal and reinstatement of concrete footpath, vehicle crossings and kerb and channel.
  • Perform minor drainage construction and repair works.
  • Reinstatement of temporary line marking
  • Inspect the safety aspects, condition and general appearance of all street signage and furniture, including but not limited to seats, bollards, fences, tree guards, litter and recycling bins etc. within major shopping centres. Program areas on an ongoing basis to identify all repairs and replacement requirements, including paint work.
  • Perform repair and maintenance works as required
  • Completion of Daily Plant Inspection Sheet for all plant and equipment allocated to the position.
  • Daily maintenance of all plant and equipment allocated to the position including changing of flat tyres (where appropriate), filling with fuel and oil and daily greasing.
  • Ensure plant and equipment, including tool boxes, are locked and secured at the end of the working day and keys returned to designated location.

Qualifications and experience:


  • Current motor vehicle licence.
  • Current medium/heavy rigid truck licence (preferable).
  • Demonstrated experience in municipal maintenance works.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
