About the Role:


The Regulation and Dispute Services portfolio interacts with a number of other government portfolios and impacts on everyday Victorians, a range of industries and a number of occupations.

This demands that the unit consider communication and engagement as part of policy development and maintain effective engagement with agencies, industry and community stakeholders.


Some of your key duties will include:

  • Providing high quality, authoritative and comprehensive advice to the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Ministerial office, the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Executives and Senior Officers on policy issues arising in regulation policy and advice
  • Managing designated projects and activities to deliver policy reviews, develop evidencebased policy proposals, undertake research and public consultations, and analyse and evaluate public policy options to address consumer and fairtrading issues and deliver on government priorities.
  • Reviewing legislation administered by the Regulation Policy business unit, develop and evaluate legislative and other regulatory options and advise on the implications of specific proposals.

About You:


  • Ability to formulate policy and legislation options and advice
  • Ability to develop project briefs consistent with business plan direction
  • Ability to manage and lead complex policy and/or legislative reform projects
