ATSICHS Brisbane Housing Services, named Ngumpi uruue meaning 'the camp made of branches'


Ngumi Uruue provides high-quality, community-led crisis accommodation and support for women and their children in the Brisbane and Logan region with plans to expand.

Our team is dedicated to mob and the delivery of culturally safe, affordable and stable housing solutions.


As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, the Housing Tenancy Officer is expected to personally contribute to the shaping and achievement of ATSICHS vision and goals within their own scope.

The Housing Tenancy Officer will provide three (3) Key Functions

Role Functions


The Housing Tenancy Officer will work across the Brisbane and Logan region to deliver supported accommodation and support the clients in maintaining tenancy.

The role is heavily outreach based, working alongside staff to engage individuals and families in crisis accommodation, street outreach and refuges, and translating initial engagement into a strong ongoing partnership.

Once engaged, the team will not identify the client's (individuals and families) issues in a practitioner-led assessment, rather deliver interventions that build client's awareness and insight into their tenancy and social wellbeing challenges, immediate and historical, in order for them to self-identify their key challenges and lead their own change.

The Housing Tenancy Officer works with individuals and families to achieve the core outcomes related to securing and maintaining sustainable housing, including:
Improving stable housing and family/individual ability to maintain a tenancy, budget and advocate
Delivering consistent and quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Managing, responding to, and resolving tenant queries and concerns
Managing tenant complaints and appeals to effective resolution
Conducing regular property inspections

Managing individual financial targets, including maximizing rent income, as well as reducing rental arrears, tenant debt, voids and vacancies, bonds and recharges.

Organizational Contributions


The Housing Tenancy Officer will participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives that improve client service quality and customer service in achieving excellence in community.

Contribute to the Development of a Flourishing Team


Support fellow staff in a team environment to build collegiality and a sense of belongingness within the team and ATSICHS family.

Staff will actively participate in team activities and contribute to a flourishing workplace culture that promotes the ethos and values of ATSICHS Brisbane as a long-standing Aboriginal Community Controlled Organization.


Skills and Experiences:


Qualification and/or Experience:

Current Diploma, in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology with 2 years' relevant experience in social services field

OR

Current Cert lll/Cert lV in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention, real estate qualification with 3 years' relevant experience in social service field


AND
With at least 1 year of above-mentioned experience in a tenancy management role.


Skills and Knowledge:

Demonstrated ability and comfortableness working in a performance driven environment to meet individual weekly, monthly and quarterly performance targets.

Demonstrated ability to build client agency, self-efficacy and facilitate change through client empowerment, while actively discouraging client dependence on supports.

Demonstrated ability in coordinating multiple services in providing access to holistic care for clients, particularly integrating internal agency supports across multiple teams.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability, disengagement, and intergenerational trauma of client group
Experience with tenancy management for high risk and/or crisis clients, with high-level planning and organizational skills.

Knowledge of the supports available to target clients in the areas of mental health, substance misuse, education, employment and housing.


Additional Requirements:

Requirement to travel across the Logan, Bayside, and Brisbane region, as per program/resident location.
