We keep up to date with what's happening in the industry and adapt to an ever-changing policy landscape by working with partners to drive innovation in energy and emissions policy to accelerate Australia's carbon markets.


The Energy Policy and Partnerships section plays a key role in informing the development of Australia's carbon and renewables markets.

We have a diverse range of responsibilities across all schemes administered by the Clean Energy Regulator.

We analyse and communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner for internal and external audiences to inform policy development.

We work with internal and external stakeholders and partners on the development and implementation of new initiatives in energy and emissions reduction policy areas.


Our functions include:

  • Developing and delivering priority energy policy projects for the agency that support scheme areas. This includes the Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency (CERT) report.
  • Influencing the direction of potential new schemes or policies that align with the objectives and functions of the agency, through advice and discussion with policy agencies.
  • Undertaking a range of ongoing activities that support the agency, including scheme operations areas, such as environmental scanning.
  • Building and maintaining productive partnerships with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and key energy and carbon market organisations.

Role responsibilities and duties:


Support and contribute to the key operational aspects of the Corporate Emissions Reduction Transparency (CERT) report, including:

  • Supporting engagement by providing general and technical guidance to existing and potential CERT report participants throughout the annual reporting process.
  • Contributing to designing and documenting the CERT assessment, approval, compliance and publication processes.
  • Contributing to coordinating the assessment of report submissions made by CERT participants.
  • Supporting the operation of the bespoke CERT verification and validation system.
  • Supporting preparing content for the annual publication of the CERT report, particularly the companyspecific information contained in the publication.

Monitor news and developments across the industry and government for the agency's monthly Board meetings including:

  • Research and coordinate issues related to Australian and international carbon and energy market and provide concise summaries of these for senior executive attention.

General Section Duties include:


  • Work collaboratively with team members and other areas of the agency to deliver Section priorities.
  • Contribute to broader activities of the section.
