ING, Australia's most recommended bank is looking for an experienced
Centre of Excellence Lead to specialise in our
Payments arena.

You'll be a passionate people leader with strong working knowledge and understanding of all relevant payment schemes and regulatory obligation, ready to make an impact on our business.


The Payment Services team in ING is responsible for overseeing all payment flows into and out of ING, including NPP, SWIFT, Cheques, Direct Entry and Card Schemes.

The team is also responsible for delivery of payments for all product lines within ING across Retail, Wholesale Banking and Group Treasury.


As ING's Centre of Excellence Lead - Payments, you'll actively and regularly liaise with the Australian payments industry and internal stakeholders on developments and key initiatives impacting the ING Payments landscape.


What you'll do

  • Act as the Payments SME providing payments expertise on the implementation of various initiatives both externally and internally driven
  • Act as the main point of contact for ING in the Australian payments industry forums
  • Own responsibility for representing ING, putting forward the ING position and collecting requirements to pass on to delivery or operational teams
  • Act as the entry point into Payment Services for any new initiatives that may require technical or operational development, governance and oversight
  • Identify opportunities to optimise and uplift operational processes and derisk processes within Payment Services domain
  • Manage a large operational team including developing and maintaining a high performance culture
  • Manage key relationships with internal business and external partners relevant to service delivery for ING

What we're looking for

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of all relevant banking legislative and privacy regulations
  • 10+ years' experience in retail banking payment operations and cards experience
  • The ability to motivate and inspire others who can work as part of a team or individually
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) and negotiation skills
  • Experience with interactions with schemes (i.e. Visa, AP+, BECs) and payment regulators such as RBA, AusPayNet will be highly regarded
