The Role

The Administration Team Leader, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Business Operations, will lead a small coordination team and be responsible for setting the work priorities and managing the workflow and resources of this team.


The Administration Team Leader is accountable for providing administrative support to the Director and Assistant Director of Business Operations and will contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.

They will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for
the achievement of outcomes of their work.

The duties of the Administration Team Leader include the following:

  • Accountable to perform difficult procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities, manage workflow and resources, set work area priorities and team plans, detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships, provide advice and guidance on more complex issues and guide and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex issues, resolve problems and implement alternative courses of action to achieve business outcomes.
  • Accountable to research, develop and implement procedural, operational, administrative and business support documentation consistent with business requirements.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining the new Branch Objective structure and undertaking the role of Branch Objective Workgroup Coordinator.

About our Team

The Air & Space Surveillance and Control Branch is responsible for the management of all aspects of equipment acquisition, integration and provision of necessary through-life support of assigned space, surveillance, control and navigation materiel capabilities.


The Branch Executive Team provides administrative and business support to the Director General, Air & Space Surveillance and Control and has overarching responsibility for the business management of the Branch.


We are seeking an individual with strong organisational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and exercise discretion.


They will have a considerable level of experience with stakeholder engagement and be able to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations in order to achieve the ASSC Branch and wider Defence business outcomes.
