What's the role?


The role of a Studio Controller is to oversee all aspects of live or prerecorded content across multiple control rooms and channels.

Using a variety of different technologies, the role requires attention to detail, great multitasking and communication skills.

Working closely with editorial, technical directors and engineering, the Studio Controller role is integral in showcasing ANCs high standards of broadcast.


  • Oversee all output from Control Room ready for live broadcast.
  • Oversee all output from Control Room for prerecorded content.
  • Direct, count and cue talent and reporters.
  • Templating rundowns using ENPS.
  • Using Mosart GUI to control vision, audio and graphics.
  • Work closely with Technical Assistants to ensure framing, audio and assign editorial requirements.
  • Work closely with Editorial to plan and template rundowns in accordance with editorial requirements.
  • Work closely with Engineering to troubleshoot all faults.
  • Understanding of a multitude of studio and control room software and hardware.
  • Shift work roster across multiple channels and control rooms 24/7 availability.

Who you are

  • 2+ years in a control room environment. Director, Director's assistant, audio and technical director experience will be advantage
  • A good understanding of a live studio control room and its roles.
  • Experience in using the studio automation system Mosart is preferred but not required.
  • The ability to work and thrive under pressure.
  • A willingness to learn in a multiskilled environment and adapt to new technologies in broadcasting.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for working in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The flexibility to work within a 7 day a week rotating roster, including regular weekend work as well as early starts and late finishes.
