Description

Wood is currently recruiting for a Planner with Mechanical background to join the site maintenance team based at at Orbost Gas Plant near Orbost.

This is a 3 month contracted position with a commencement date in March 2024.


Reporting to the Project Shutdown Manager, these positions will be responsible for preparing detailed job packs including QA documents in readiness for execution.


  • Hand on development of detailed shutdown work packs.
  • Develop comprehensive job packs that include all necessary information, such as work instructions, procedures, materials, estimates, tools and safety requirements.
  • Collaborating with the shutdown manager, maintenance supervisors, operators and other stakeholders to establish realistic timelines and schedules for each work pack.
  • Identify the necessary resources, including labour, equipment, materials and external contractors, required to execute the work packs effectively.
  • Coordinating with various departments and teams to ensure seamless execution of tasks, such as procurement, logistics, engineering, and operations.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for each workpack.
  • Regularly updating project stakeholders on the progress of work packs, addressing any concerns or changes, and facilitating effective communication between different teams.
  • Addressing unexpected issues that arise during the execution of work packs, making necessary adjustments to keep the work on track.
  • Monitor overall project progress and achievement of major milestones
  • Liaise with other planners within the team and share responsibilities as appropriate to deliver an effective planning service to the client.
  • At least 5 years' experience as a shutdown planner / completions engineer


  • Strong stakeholder management

  • Internal/External
  • A background in Oil & Gas or Construction will be preferred
  • Engineering degree or Onsite experience will be highly considered
  • Working knowledge using MS Project will be an advantage
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and oral
