About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Social Worker within the Northern Adelaide Palliative Care Unit
The Senior Social Worker is responsible to the Nurse Unit Manager, Northern Adelaide Palliative Service (NAPS) for the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of quality palliative services for patients of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN).
The Senior Social Work participates as member of the palliative care team within the Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division.
Optimal care and outcomes are ensured by providing a comprehensive range of Social Work services to patients receiving inpatient palliative care, community palliative care, and bereavement supports.
The Senior Social Worker works in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team, to effectively plan and provide therapeutic interventions based on patient goals.

The Senior Social Worker is accountable for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
- Supporting social work staff and students.
- Improving social work, policy, procedures, guidelines, and practices
- Supporting operational management of the Social Work team through the development, coordination, and management of highquality psychosocial care services.
Working in conjunction with other (Social Work) members and other health professionals the Senior Clinician optimises patient functional and health outcomes in this specialty area.
As a highly skilled and competent clinician, the incumbent delivers quality services and provides clinical leadership within the acute hospital services, providing support and supervision to less experienced staff.
Within Palliative Care, the Senior Social Worker is responsible for the overall operation of the Social Work Team including assessments, quality improvement activities, recruitment, service development and evaluation.
