ABOUT THE ROLE OF A SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT TEACHER AIDES
We currently have new and exciting opportunities for Special Development Teacher Aides in Lalor.

This is a great way for you to develop and enhance your skills as a TA while working in SDS.

You will assist the teacher in a variety of schools, expanding your connections and building solid relationships.

You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to use your initiative to help the teacher in full class contexts, in groups and 1:1 setting.


DUTIES

  • Support students in their work
  • Be able to use your initiative to explain concepts in various ways that the student/s can understand
  • Assist the teacher to deliver high quality learning experiences
  • Help the teacher to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Manage behaviours appropriately by following the teachers lead
  • Supervise students in the playground (when asked)
  • Collaborate positively with the class teacher
  • Assist with meals and toileting

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Hold a certificate III or IV in Education Support (Preferable but not mandated)
  • Be able to adapt to changing work environments
  • Hold current WWCC Employer version (or have this in process)
  • Provide an uptodate resume outlining your education/child related experience
  • Be able to provide contact details for two educationbased referees' from within the last 5 years
  • Hold a valid working visa, Australian or NZ Passport

OTHER SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Willing to be able to travel up to an hour to campuses
  • Willing to be able to work with children with special needs
  • Willing to assist with meals and toileting
  • MUST be willing to travel to areas of requirement
