The Role

An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated content editor to join the team at Qantas magazine and its digital arm, Travel Insider.


Reporting to the content director, the successful applicant will be responsible for assisting to implement the editorial strategy for the Qantas brand, creating innovative content that will continually engage and evolve the target audience - and inspire travel.


The editor is expected to conceive, organise and commission high-quality content to deadline, write copy for print and digital, engage in a small amount of editing and attend events on behalf of the masthead when required.


Experience in ideation, commissioning, writing and copy editing is essential, together with an understanding of the processes and pressures of operating in a fast-paced editorial environment.

A background in travel and/or luxury would be beneficial.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • Manage all editorial travel, working efficiently and effectively with travel providers and contributors
  • Conceptualise, commission and create content that is on brand, engages the audience and is of the highest quality, across all platforms
  • Work closely with the content director to understand the Qantas objectives and guide content development based on their goals
  • Help deliver on the multichannel editorial content strategy, aligning with the Qantas brand and consumer to help deliver readership/traffic growth
  • Monitor trends in competitor content and regularly update the content team on developments in international best practice
  • Attend events and launches from time to time on behalf of Qantas

Skills and experience:


  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience producing content in an editorial environment
  • Relevant tertiary degree
  • Experience with SEO and CRM
  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage projects
  • Exemplary client service and a willingness to exceed client expectations
  • Able to present trends and insights in a meaningful and objective way
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
