An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lawyer in the DCS Legal Team to support the State's regulators within the DCS cluster on initiatives that will transform the way they deliver improved outcomes for the people of NSW.


As a Senior Lawyer in the team, you will be joining a passionate, motivated, and engaged group of professionals providing legal advice on a broad range of corporate/commercial matters, applicable legislation, innovation initiatives, funding agreements, procurement/licensing interagency agreements and commercial legal support to the State Insurance Regulatory Authority ("SIRA"), the Centre for Work Health and Safety and SafeWork NSW.

Key responsibilities will include:


  • Providing clear business focused pragmatic legal advice and support to SIRA, the Centre for Work Health and Safety, SafeWork NSW and Corporate Services Divisions.
  • Providing legal advice and support on DCS procurement projects including tender and contract preparation, advice, drafting and negotiation of contracts.
  • Providing legal advice and analysis in relation to a range of legislation administered by DCS, SIRA and SafeWork NSW.
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of documentation including transactional documents, service/funding/consulting agreements and briefing notes.
You must demonstrate relevant post admission experience in two or more of the following areas in private, in-house corporate or government practice:

  • corporate/commercial, procurement
- regulatory framework of CTP/Workers Compensation insurances
- workplace health and safety regulation

  • IT, IP and/or privacy

About You:


  • You must hold an Australian Practising Certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (NSW).
  • You will have strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • You will be a commercially focused team player who can work independently and explore and provide solutions to clients.
  • You will be committed to building relationships across DCS, SIRA and SafeWork businesses and working collaboratively to support business requirements.

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $134411 base plus superannuation
