  • Up to $70 p/h + super, 35 hours per week
  • Temporary role until end of December possibility of extension


We are currently seeking experienced, person-centred Leaders with a background in/exposure to Child Protection or an industry that supports vulnerable members of the community.

This is a diverse and rewarding role that will see you managing a team of Assessors, working towards a common goal of keeping young people and parents across NSW safe

This position is based in Parramatta however work from home is encouraged (hybrid work model).

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage a positive and collaborative team of Assessment Officers, operating in an environment of high demand and change, to effectively assess risks and needs of young people who are identified as being at risk of harm.
  • Ensure the provision of consistent and high quality recommendations, advice and education to educational organisations in the area of child protection and maintain the accuracy of information by ensuring all Assessment Officers enter required data into internal databases in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Plan, implement and manage effective operational intake systems and resources, including the negotiation and allocation of work and staff rostering to provide effective and efficient staffing.
  • Support staff induction and identification of training needs to ensure staff are equipped with necessary and up to date information to enable them to provide high quality child protection assessment and advice.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation and maintenance of quality assurance strategies which contribute to professional development, delivery and evaluation of professional learning of staff and ongoing service improvement within the business.
  • Undertake and document case reviews which examine outcomes for young people, systemic practice, inter and intra agency collaboration, legislative and policy issues.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to the Director on emergent issues including systemic, high risk or complex or critical issues and identified trends assisting in the development to address such issues.
  • Proactive participation in the Unit's leadership team by contributing to the planning, development and review of operational service provision and by identifying and advising on areas for development and/or change including in procedures and the effective delivery of services by public schools to young people at risk of harm.

You will need to:


  • Experience in a Leadership/Management role is essential
  • Experience in Child Protection, NGO/NotforProfit, Communities and Justice, Legal, Police or similar industries that focus on protection potentially vulnerable people is essential
  • Experience in the Government sector would be highlybeneficial
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring teams of staff, ensuring that skills gaps are identified and promoting learning and career progression
  • Must be able to work in an everchanging, sensitive environment
  • Must be able to commit to the required duration of the assignment
