Job Description:


An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Assistant to join the Immunology Division at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position

Selection Criteria


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • BSc with Honours or Masters in an appropriate area of study (i.e. immunology, biochemistry, microbiology) or relevant experience.
  • Experience with sterile tissue culture, such as maintenance of cell lines or primary cell cultures.
  • Experience with multicolour flow cytometry.
  • Experience in animal handling and tissue dissection.

Strongly Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Immunological assays i.e. in vitro cytokine arrays; killing assays; proliferation assays.
  • In vivo mouse procedures or infection models.
  • Molecular biology.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Confocal imaging

Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent organisational, problem solving and timemanagement skills.
  • Can communicate well and work effectively within a dynamic group environment, but also be able to autonomously carry out tasks.
  • Extremely motivated, and keen to keep uptodate with literature and current techniques in the field.
  • Reliable and approachable.
Terms of Appointment

This position is an ongoing role in a full time capacity. Salary is Research Support Employee Level 5 ($76, ,947). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
