The 100 Million Club
Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) from Austrian is one of my favourite painters
He was the Leader of the Vienna Secession movement and one of the most famous painters of that time
He was the most influenced by Japanese art
Vienna was an intensely bohemian city during Klimt’s lifetime, filled with decadence and artistic experimentation.
But the government and traditional art establishment strongly disapproved of this avant-garde cultural movement.
It was driven by young artists and intellectuals who became famous not only Klimt but architect Otto Wagner,
composers Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schönberg and psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
When you investigate Klimt's philosophy and inspiration it is clear he would have made an impressive
psychoanalyst or psychologist in today's terms.
I love Art Deco.
So I love his symbolist style and his organic combination of colours and shapes
used in his 'Golden Phase'. His paintings using real silver and gold leaf are exquisite
This was when he received positive critiques and financial success.
Museums sell more color reproductions of Klimt’s paintings than those of any other artist.
Some of the most beautiful of his works are
The Kiss (Priceless)
Adele Bloch-Bauer I ($135 mill in 2006)
Hope II
The Embrace
Of course The Sunflower is special
It's a case of look BUT don't touch as they are some of the most valuable paintings in the world
Adele Bloch-Bauer I ($135 mill in 2006) is one of the paintings in the 100 Million Club

Yes very true - war stories add to the notoriety also bidders/collectors with mega$ must have this painting so the artificial high price results I've heard of such collectors who have their paintings in a locked room al la jail or panic room so they can go & look at them whenever they wish (& deprive others of the joy) Maybe it helps Lada \ud83c\udfe1 Prkic if you see the real painting I remember seeing Mona Lisa behind the bullet proof glass with 20 rows of people in front of me Completely underwhelming Contrastingly when I saw Monet's Water Lilies in the round at Musée de l'Orangerie with few people there I could not believe they were so big The size, colour & texture of the paintings made them come alive I went home & threw out my prints as they were a total misrepresentation Now I see them in my memory !
