More o' me rhymes, and other word crimes - Vol II

6163034a.jpgWhen not researching the weird or the wonderful, the comical or the cultured, the sinful or the serious, I chase my creative side, the results of which can be seen as selected photographs of my travels on my website at:

http://ken-boddie.squarespace.com

The author of the above, Ken Boddie, besides being a sometime poet and occasional writer, is an enthusiastic photographer, rarely leisure-travelling without his Canon, and loves to interact with other like-minded people with diverse interests.

Ken's three day work week (part time commitment) as a consulting engineer allows him to follow his photography interests, and to plan trips to an ever increasing list of countries and places of scenic beauty and cultural diversity.

Absolutely Ken 😉,. Like planning a vacation to the mountains, but then you would be accused of taking life for granite.

I guess then, Kev, we should be living life to the 'fool' ? 🤡

A fine collection of euphonious prose from the Boddie Bard... I always look forward to your comments and articles Sir Ken. You continually remind me that life is too short to take things too seriously... not that I really need a reminder, but I do appreciate it.

This Jeep was 'borrowed', Aaron \ud83d\udc1d Skogen, when on one of my frequent trips to Java. As I stated in an earlier comment below, there are a few Jeeps used for regular tours up Mount Merapi, close to Yogyakarta, where I have family connections, but I'm not to sure how they got there. I fear that the owners know their worth only too well, not to mention that they look after them like pets. Add to this my spotters fee, handling fee, facilitation costs for various officials in order to smoothen the export process, then, of course the shipping charges, and the bottom line is that the bargain basement cheapest mates rates price elevates to penthouse suite price. But, hey, happy to help if you are really keen. 🤣😂🤣

HaHa! That's great Ken Boddie, I didn't realize that the caliber was so high here. I'm going to have to work on my responses with a little more thought. Your comment to Gert Scholtz' article about the "relevant" button was the most poignant in that it crystallized in my mind what my mission now is; and YES I choose to accept it. (This is going to be fun!) "The gauntlets been thrown my skills I must hone to reach the stature of that ultimate master true wit and humor both solar and lunar I must dig deep to climb the heap Maybe say something naughty without being haughty about my new buddy Mr Ken Boddie "

What's this I see, from DLE? A lovely poem, just for me. Never had a poem just for me before. Must go and get me a tissue. Got some dust in my eye. 😭

I really don't think badly of the middle Kingdom. I love China actually and i don't why sharing my experience conveys that impression.

Ah the funny farm "where life is beautiful all day long". Always happy to add some complementary giggles, Aleta, to your eminently enjoyable posts, particularly the ones where you reveal the 'realities' of country life. I have quite a few of yours stashed away for Vol III, which I hope the dogs will also enjoy.

not quite, Lisa ..... prunes are a reliable laxative. In the land down under, Where men will chunder, If your plumbing's stuck, Don't run a muck, Some prunes, no doubt, Will help it out.

Interesting. As you probably know, when the US Army left the Philippines after WWII, rather than ship the military jeeps back to America, they sold or gave them away to the locals, and this created a black market for jeeps. Many were converted into what we now know as jeepneys. I guess many found their way across the straits to Indonesia.

For some inexplicable reason, Dean-san, old US army Jeeps seem to be in abundance on the slopes of Gunung Merapi, near Yogyakarta. I'll have to check, but perhaps they were brought there by the 'dark Jeep of the family'? 🤣 Unashamedly stolen from Kevin Pashuk who drives a black Cherokee.

I have it on good authority, Praveen, that we all have excellent memories, in spite of the onset of the ageing process. Unfortunately, in my case, it's the process of tapping into the grey memory matter, and drawing the info back out, that has developed a leak or two. That's why I keep a log, copied onto a Word doc or several, when I'm on my MacBook, but when I'm on the iPhone ..... ??? Perhaps I should see someone about that leak? Do you know any good plumbers, Praveen? Or maybe I'll contact old mate Julian at WittiLeaks? 🤣

You are so right about people 'actually reading' your posts, Pascal. I greatly look forward to reading these but, what with so many newBees producing, and the hyperbolically increasing speed of the Wall, I sometimes miss out. But as you say in your inimitably philosophical way, "it is what it is". 🤗
