    Your Opportunity

    Due to strong growth in our Transport team, we are recruiting in our Brisbane office for a Technical Director – Corridor Planning & Urban Development. This role will be responsible for integrating transport planning with rail, road and public transport infrastructure projects across Queensland.

    Responsibilities will include participation in the development of the transport planning business strategy within Queensland, marketing and the establishment / maintenance of Client relationships, selling of Mott MacDonald services, Delivery of Mott MacDonald services, training, development and growth of the Queensland transport team in transportation planning.
    In addition, the Technical Director – Corridor Planning & Urban Development. will contribute specialist expertise to projects outside of QLD in support of Mott MacDonald Australia/New Zealand and Globally.

    Key Responsibilities:
    You would assume responsibility and assist in management of medium and large-scale transport projects. This includes tender submissions, technical documentation, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets. You would also be noted as a specialist in an area of corridor planning aspects of Transport Planning with display proven project management skills and understand risk and the need to use their contractual and commercial acumen. Day-to-day responsibilities could include:

    • To ensure that they consider and apply the principles of Safety in Design (SiD) and Road Safety in all projects
    • Demonstrate care about the well-being of themselves and others, through actively participating in WHS activities/requirements
    • Actively seek business opportunities with potential clients and develop strategic planning
    • Key client retention, anticipate needs of existing clients and pursue development within current portfolio
    • Working as 'Project Leader' as required, ensuring that projects are delivered to programme, budget and the standard required
    • Act as 'Technical Specialist' to provide clients with expert technical advice and solutions in area of expertise

    Key requirements

    • Hold a Planning or Engineering degree acceptable to recognised and relevant professional body
    • Chartered Engineer (preferably a CPEng), or Planning Accreditation equivalent
    • Registered Professional Engineer, Queensland (RPEQ) if a Chartered Engineer
    • Several years experience in the transport industry covering planning, feasibility, design and delivery of complex transport projects
    • Solid experience in multi-modal corridor transport planning and the ability to develop integrated multi-modal transport solutions
    • Sound knowledge of transport modelling and traffic engineering and ability to work with the engineering design teams to develop optimum project outcomes
    • Solid experience in development of transport options, Preliminary Evaluations and Business Case development within the Queensland Project Assessment Framework (PAF)
    • Ability to analyse and plan transport systems and solutions from feasibility through to commissioning
    • Sound knowledge of the transport infrastructure industry and the understanding of the complexities of managing and delivering transport projects
