    Head of Manufacturing Weir Minerals Sydney, NSWOnsite The Head of Manufacturing will be responsible for enabling and supporting the delivery of manufacturing output in a safe and efficient way.

    The successful candidate will be overseeing a large foundry, elastomer shop, machine shop and maintenance, and will work with the respective shop managers to ensure that business objectives are met.

    This role will act as the escalation point for the various shops and will provide overall guidance and support on resolving any issues and challenges.

    The Head of Manufacturing is pivotal in managing daily operations whilst aligning them with the broader objectives outlined in the Operations strategy.

    The successful professional will provide expert guidance on processes to capture, manage, develop, and share information, enabling the adoption of new methodologies within designated teams.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Ensure all necessary resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, are available for production activities.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum experience of 5+ years as a Production Supervisor

    The Role:
    To ensure that safe methods of working are maintained and that site SHE standards are adhered to.
    Including auditing of these systems and the completion of daily inspections in production areas.

    To be highly visible in encouraging safe behavior, setting high standards and not tolerating substandard work especially in relation to rule and procedural based violations.

    Encourage a culture of Risk Assessments and Management of Change when new activity or asset is introduced in the line.

    To monitor the performance of the assets for which the job holder is responsible (could be via OEE ) and then drive improvements of the assets.

    To conduct root cause analysis of all SHE and QA incidents within area of responsibility and to ensure that all SHE and QA actions assigned to the job holders responsibility are progressed against agreed timescales.

    To ensure that all production plant, within area of responsibility, is in a fit state to operate following any construction, modification or maintenance activity.

    To ensure all production plant is adequately manned and to assist in the selection and recruitment of new staff.

    To eliminate or adequately control risks associated within the operation of the plant and communicate technical information internally on a regular basis.

    To ensure that all plant is operated according to current operating procedures and that all products are manufactured according to current process instructions so that they meet specification.

    To ensure that products are made to the agreed production schedule and that stock control procedures are followed.

    On some sites this may include the purchase, management and control of ancillary materials products and services to ensure the assets run smoothly.

    To provide plant and process troubleshooting skills to ensure that production downtime is kept to a minimum.
    To investigate and carry out root cause analysis of plant problems and be proactive in anticipating such problems.

    Problem solving usually follows well determined guidelines but sometimes due to limited or contradictory evidence may require further investigation or assistance from management or other departments.

    The job holder must have a deep technical understanding of the plant, processes and products.

    They will often be the first point of contact for any issues arising on plant and will therefore often be on some form of call out rotation.

    To be responsible for the site sales and profitability budget and to provide customers adequate technical advice to ensure continuous sales growth.

    Main communication is within the production team and other site teams (such as maintenance, logistics & planning, R&D, quality, technical & engineering teams & contractor staff).

    There will be communication with people outside the site within Croda.
    There will be communicationwith external groups, customers and regulators mainly during visits & audits.

    To ensure all activities within their area are carried out with due consideration for the siteobligations under COMAH, IPPC, GMP & relevant ISO standards that apply on the site.

    Education / experience would be equivalent to Science or Engineering degree.
    5-8 years of experience managing Manufacturing Plants.
    Exposure to Seed industry preferred.
    Exposure to SAP is added advantage.

    Agility to manage short term deliverables and also develop capacity / capability for long termprofi table growth.
    Good learning agility to learn and understand the subtle nuances related to the technology and process of Seed improvement.
