About the Information Technology Team
The IT team provides technical support in all areas of IT focused on supporting and growing the business through technology.
About the role:
The primary responsibility of the Business Analyst – Finance and BI is to help drive operational efficiency and support business growth through the delivery (and ongoing optimization) of innovative technology solutions that automate and improve Finance and Accounting processes. as well deliver Actionable Insights through Business Intelligence solutions.
In this role you will act as both a Technology, Finance and BI subject matter expert (SME) and will be the primary business partner and intermediary between key Finance and other cross functional stake holders, end-users, and the technology team.
Key Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Meet with user groups to gather, analyse, and validate business requirements including delivery of business process initiatives.
- Workflow analysis to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement.
- Development of functional specifications that design and document desired outcome of system enhancement/development.
- Produce technical specifications to communicate user requirements in technical terms to analyst programmers/project team.
- Identifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts
- Effectively managing the business impacts resulting from projects and innovation ensuring stakeholders are engaged and supported in meeting objectives
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency, functionality, and user friendliness of system enhancement/development.
- Prepare test cases, co-ordinate system testing and processes.
- Work as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems or developing new systems.
- Manage project lifecycle from initial inception through to completion.
- Preparation of material, training and assistance to end-users following implementation.
- Coordinate and facilitate project workshops
- Optimise and document new business processes, including validation of business benefits
- Design and delivery of strategies that place customers at the centre of business decisions
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed:
- At least 3 - 5 years of experience in IT
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a Finance and/or Supply Chain (manufacturing a plus) business environment
- Strong ability to converse with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the organisation.
- Good understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development life cycle.
- Technical knowledge of programming, system design, IT infrastructure and database concepts.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to present information (both verbally and in writing) in an accurate, compelling, and succinct manner.
- Sound ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.
- Sound technical specification writing/documentation skills.
- An appreciation of both IT and business strategy.
- Knowledge of business process re-engineering
- Experience in change management including identification of business impacts and preparing relevant material to support the change e.g., toolbox talks
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Experience with SSRS, SSAS and/or Azure versions, PowerBI .
- Possess a professional and collaborative working style
Ideal experience:
- Ideally possess tertiary Qualification in Finance and Accounting, Information Technology, Data Science or Engineering (preferred though strong industry experience will be equally favourable)
- Proven experience in delivering business project and change initiatives and implementing new systems and processes
- Experience in complex projects e.g., business transformation, ERP implementation or automation projects
- Experience in managing and working within an agile environment
- Experience in Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Systems and Automation, Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Dashboards
- Experience in the preparation, documentation and execution of various types of testing e.g., SIT, SAT, UAT
- Strong understanding of end-to-end Finance processes combined with a working familiarity of AP and AR Automation, BI tools, and/or ERPs
