    The Business Improvement & Quality Assurance Branch sits under the Claim Process Improvement Division, and is focused on evidenced-based continuous improvement to ensure our clients receive streamlined and accurate decisions in respect to their compensation claims. The Branch also supports efficiency improvements to the delivery of benefits and payments to enhance the client service experience.

    We are seeking Senior Review Support Officers to provide support to both the Veterans' Review Board (VRB) and Review Officers to ensure accurate documentation required for the review process, and Directions provided by the VRB are delivered within relevant timeframes.

    Duties

    • Providing support to section management through the coordination, collation and efficient turn-around of responses for Ministerial input, Secretary Office enquiries, Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and other matters as required.
    • Commence the merit reviews process of compensation decisions determined under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA), Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA), and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA), and assist with preparation of the documents and advice for the VRB.
    • Assist Review Officer Section with matters under consideration by the Veterans' Review Board (VRB), including providing advice and support to the VRB as required.
    • Provide a high level of customer service and engage with DVA clients regarding their appeal matters.
    • Implementing basic rejection and implementation determinations handed down by the Veterans' Review Board (VRB) using DVA processing systems.
    • Assist Review Support Officers through training, mentoring and coaching and refinement and bedding down of review support processes and procedures.
    • Act as an escalation point for complex and sensitive review support matters.
    • Undertake a range of project work and ad hoc tasks as directed by section management.

    Eligibility

    • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
    • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

    Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

    A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

    Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
