    Our Projects
    With several live projects underway across Australia in remote mining construction as well as multiple projects at advanced tender stage, we now have an opportunity for an Operations Manager – WA to join the business in our head office in Osborne Park in Perth.

    Reporting to the General Manager of Operations, your primary focus will be the day-to-day management across all aspects of our remote infrastructure projects (Concrete/Earthworks/Roadworks/Piping/NPI) across the West Coast. You will be tasked with providing visible leadership (managing 6-8 FIFO Project Managers) and providing direction in the development and implementation of best practice and strategic initiatives.

    This role plays an instrumental role in driving best practice talent acquisition and building high performance teams. Also, to support management with daily operational requirements as well as driving operational excellence and business profitability.

    About the Role:

    • Drive a high-performance safety culture, ensuring all project personnel understand & comply with project HSE policies, management plans, objectives & KPIs
    • Take a lead role in establishing and maintaining key client relationships with Tier 1 mining clients
    • Drive and oversee successful development and execution of Whittens projects from award through execution to completion and close-out
    • Ensure understanding of the relevant contracts for each project including effective allocation of people, plant & equipment;
    • Drive best practice talent acquisition, as well as ensuring effective workforce redeployment
    • Working closely with HR to support company Diversity and Inclusion objectives
    • Oversee projects to ensure successful delivery and continuous improvement, including reviewing/monitoring budgets, schedules and progress, company lessons learnt
    • Undertake frequent visits to inspect site works, provide 'in-field' staff coaching and mentoring and ensure workforce/leadership alignment with Whittens' values and culture
    • Ensure all contract issues and disputes are resolved and/or escalated promptly & in accordance with the applicable contract
    • Collaborate with and lead Project Managers to ensure pro-active management of scope changes, early identification of potential issues and devising of contingency plans
    • Ensure all variations, contract changes and claims are clearly understood between the parties, documented, dealt with in accordance with the contract and escalated where required
    • Closely monitor individual project performance, ensuring delivery within budget, with profit margins secured and with strict contract compliance

    About You:

    • Visible leader with demonstrated leadership experience in the Civil Infrastructure space including demonstrated FIFO / Remote experience as a Senior Project Manager
    • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or similar Engineering field (preferable)
    • Experience in the Project Management of Earthworks and Concrete projects in the range of $10-80Million is a must
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Experience with the management of remote project teams
    • Willingness to travel to site as required
    • Demonstrated history of success in planning, executing & overall management of projects;
    • Solid Commercial acumen and passionate to succeed
