    Description

    Your Role:

    The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the achievement of department, branch and corporate goals relative to profit, growth, service, producer and client relations.

    Your Responsibilities:

    Achievement of the Personal Premium Budget

    • Achieve or exceed growth and profit targets in support of Branch & Distribution Rate, Retention & New Business Targets. Reach new business targets for assigned brokers, assigned products and assigned development initiatives

    Underwriting Process / Analysis

    • Follow established guidelines and within the scope of delegated authority, determine acceptability of new lines and renewals

    • Train and Mentor less Experienced underwriters

    • Consult with manager on risks exceeding delegated authority

    • Maintain awareness of claim activity with assigned book and communicate with claims department as needed

    • Maintain awareness of underwriting results and premium and loss trends

    • Assist Marine Manager A&NZ with production of reports required to monitor and improve results

    Production & Marketing

    • Contribute to the development of a marketing strategy to establish the Chubb marine product capability with established and potential Chubb brokers

    • Provide technical u/w and sales support to achieve local budgets working closely with local P&C underwriters

    • Implement business development strategy to drive and generate target new business across all identified areas of responsibility

    • Support new product and distribution initiatives as agreed with management. Contribution could include input to market research and the evaluation of existing and new product distribution opportunities to assist in the creation of strong market presence for Chubb Marine

    • Participate in all required marketing functions, including: Broker reviews and prospecting for new brokers as required

    • Analyse and monitor quality, volume and mix of business for assigned producers

    • Maintain at all times appropriate quality-control on assigned portfolios, in terms of all aspects of external and internal service, as well as strict adherence to company underwriting strategies and guidelines

    • Participate as agreed in joint travel with members of other underwriting departments


    • Experience level of three years plus, preferably in marine insurance but not essential

    • High degree of technical underwriting ability

    • Highly developed business development skills

    • Exceptional oral and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills
