The opportunity
Experience the community spirit at the top of Australia - Weipa in Western Cape York. Working with a fantastic team of nursing staff and fellow Doctors, you'll work day shifts 8am to 4:30pm with out of hours ED on-call usually twice per week. Opportunities for GPs with ED. Advanced skills in Obstetrics also highly desired due to the re-opening of birthing services
The ED sees 20-30 patients in a 24 hour period on average. There's great nursing support and typically a junior doctor (PGY2 or 3) allocated as well. Previous locum Doctors in Weipa tell us this is an awesome place to work, with an interesting variety of presentations, friendly & professional colleagues and a welcoming community.
Location
Based in the remote coastal community of Weipa on the Cape York Peninsular of far north Queensland. On your rostered days off why not hire a 4WD and explore ?
Essential Criteria
You must be an experienced rural Doctor who is used to working in remote communities. Specialist AHPRA registration and recent ED experience and certification (ALS2 or equivalent) are essential. Advanced skills in obstetrics highly desirable.
