    Woodland Grove Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals, Learning for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

    At Woodland Grove PS, the purpose of the Deputy Principal is to lead and engage staff in shared beliefs about teaching and learning, supporting them to collaborate, plan, act and assess in line with our identified school-wide practices. They provide support to staff to build capacity and to analysis both systemic and school-based data with a lens of improving student achievement and progress. Potential applicants with a strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, The Early Years Learning Framework and Teaching would be seen as advantageous and are encouraged to apply.

    Ideally applicants should be willing to utilise the Department's Teaching for Impact and the Western Australian Curriculum and/or Early Years Learning Framework, to engage their staff in 1:1 cycles of coaching and/or mentoring. These cycles will focus on providing targeted professional learning to staff to improve student outcomes drawing on experiences such as modelling, providing feedback and peer observation.

    Additionally, the successful applicant will ideally lead teams of teachers to reflect on identified school and systematic data to plan for improvement. In this work, developing staff's data-literacy, understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and/or Early Years Learning Framework whilst simultaneously developing middle leadership will be critical.

    The Deputy Principal works closely with the school to lead change in Teaching and Learning at a whole-school and community level.

    To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

    • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
    • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
    • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
    • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

    Eligibility and training requirements

    Employees will be required to:

    • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
    • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
    • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
    • complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement;
    • complete the Department's training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
    • complete the Department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
    • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

    The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
