    The City of Perth is seeking Council Governance and Policy Officers to support the oversight of the Council Governance and Policy Frameworks to facilitate a values' driven culture that supports a workforce of accountability, integrity, and respect.

    This position plays an important role in the Council Governance function to enhance the formal decision-making process of the City, including facilitating meetings of Council and executive leaders, coordination of the local government's elections, and supporting processes for the development of procedures to ensure business continuation.

    As the Council Governance and Policy Officer, you will support the City by:

    • Preparing and coordinating meeting processes, inclusive of agendas and minutes for elected members facing meetings such as Council, Committees, and Electors Meetings, plus Elected Member Engagement Sessions
    • Facilitating the development and review of Council policies to support the City's strategic direction and to comply with legislative requirements
    • Assisting to provide research, report, and policy preparation assistance in relation to the various requirements of the Local Government Act
    • Supporting the Council Governance Team by assisting with general governance responsibilities and undertaking governance-related projects as directed

    Essential Criteria

    • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Local Government Governance, or other local government statutory related administrative role, or equivalent local government experience.
    • Strong organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads to meet competing deadlines in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
    • High level interpersonal skills including the ability to build rapport with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
    • High level of attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
