    Position Overview: Reporting to the Works Manager, this is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for maintaining Council's vehicle and plant fleet by managing the Council's workshop facilities and personnel in an efficient and effective manner.

    Skills & Experience Required: To be successful in this role you will possess:

    • Demonstrated experience leading a vehicle and plant fleet mechanical workshop responsible for maintaining a variety of light vehicles, trucks, and earthmoving equipment.

    • Demonstrated experience in material ordering, stock control, maintaining effective records and service log details and scheduling of works;

    • Ability to meet project priorities by ensuring the availability of adequate resources and minimal downtime of equipment;

    • Experience in the supervision of staff, including task allocation, identifying training needs, mentoring and performance management;

    • Demonstrated experience in the review of revenue and operational costs, budgetary impacts, and the preparation of monthly reports;

    • Good computer skills, with the ability to use MS Office suite;

    • Ability to apply work, health and safety standards and advocate safe work practices;

    • Trade qualification in heavy vehicle mechanics or diesel fitting; and

    • Current HR Class Licence.
