About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and safety focused Heavy Diesel Fitter to join our maintenance team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining heavy mobile plant equipment used across mining and civil construction operations. Your expertise will ensure our fleet remains reliable, safe, and compliant with operational standards.

Location: Big Hill - Bendigo

Roster: 8:6 - 12-hour shifts, 6.00am to 6.00pm

Salary: $55-$75 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Perform machine and component rebuilds.
• Conduct breakdown repairs on a range of equipment including haul trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, and water carts.
• Inspect and test machinery to ensure operational readiness.

Diagnostics & Fault Finding

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults using OEM tools and manual techniques.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement effective repair solutions.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all site safety procedures and company policies.
• Ensure work meets environmental and safety standards.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts usage.
• Complete work orders and service reports promptly and thoroughly.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with supervisors, tradespeople, and operational teams.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to apprentices.

Workshop & Field Operations

• Operate and maintain workshop tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Perform field service work, including remote or on-site repairs.

About you:

Experience & Qualifications

• Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent.
• Proven experience with heavy mobile plant equipment in mining or civil construction.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electrical diagnostics

Licences & Skills

• Current Driver's Licence (HR preferred).
• Forklift Licence.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
