    About the role
    The Head of Insurance Governance & Oversight is responsible for driving strong governance, quality and risk management practices across Insurance Operations at Cbus. Reporting to the Group Head of Insurance, you will embed and monitor the Governance & Quality framework to ensure operational risks are proactively identified and managed. By championing governance and process excellence, the role supports the strategic objectives of the Insurance Operations team and strengthens the control environment.
    This role is pivotal in overseeing underwriting and insurance administration to ensure members receive the correct insurance cover aligned with policy and fund rules. It provides leadership in monitoring insurer and administration performance, ensuring adherence to agreed business rules, standards and service expectation. Through coordination oversight and active participation in internal and external forums, the role ensures consistent, high-quality insurance service delivery—making it critical to safeguarding member outcome and maintaining trust in the fund's insurance operations.
    Key Accountabilities
    Lead risk management, governance and compliance activities, embedding frameworks and controls to proactively identify and manage operational risks
    Act as Insurance's Risk and Business Continuity Champion, coordinating engagement with Line 2 and ensuring adherence to crisis and continuity frameworks
    Oversee governance of the Insurance Management Framework, including incident & issue management, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and business rules oversight and APRA reporting requirements
    Manage the end-to-end underwriting and insurance administration function, ensuring accurate member coverage and strong partner performance against agreed standards
    Drive continuous improvement and strategic insights across underwriting, insurance administration and change processes, including governance of insurer, administrator and IFSIS relationships
    What will you bring?
    Experience in a similar Head of Insurance Governance & Oversight role in Superannuation, Insurance or Financial Services
    Extensive experience applying risk frameworks, mitigation strategies and Line 1 risk activities within superannuation and ideally insurance operations
    Proven leadership in underwriting or insurance operations with a strong focus on service excellence and member experience
    Strong stakeholder and partner-management capability, with the ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally
    Excellent communication, analytical thinking, attention to detail and organisational skills
    Strengths in influencing, decision-making, problem solving and working with accountability and independence
