    In the role of Senior Designer (Civil) you will work within a highly professional, multidisciplinary team environment and participate in the management and delivery of planning and design projects as components of transport infrastructure projects and provide expert technical advice and support to the transport infrastructure functional areas within your location.


    Some of your responsibilities will include:

    • Supervise and deliver the development of transport infrastructure design models in the strategic planning, concept, development, and implementation phases of an overarching framework for the delivery of projects.
    • Provide specialist advice and guidance on the planning and design process and projects, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.
    • Maintaining, applying and guiding staff in the application of relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
    • Reviewing state and local government planning proposals to assess their impacts for the department and provide feedback on those documents on behalf of the District.
    • Managing and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities.
    • In managing projects, you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates including encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
    • Prepare planning, design briefs and audits, call for quotations and let tenders, manage consultants and contractors, evaluate transport options to ensure the recommended solutions produce the desired transport, economic, social and environmental outcomes.
    • Ensure that planning and design principles are implemented in accordance with the relevant policies, standards, guidelines and legislation, and that quality management procedures are adhered to.
    • Review of transport infrastructure design drawings and documentation provided by the external design consultants.
    • Exercise initiative in the selection and implementation of the most suitable design process for project delivery, including investigating, analysing and conceptualising possible planning and design options to meet project objectives.
    Mandatory qualifications and conditions


    • A minimum three-year, Sydney Accord accredited engineering degree such as a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil) or recognised equivalence.
    • A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence
    • Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
    Desirable requirements


    • High degree of proficiency with design software packages such as Auto CAD and 12d Model.
