Description

We're looking for Australian based freelance UX & UI Designers to join our roster for overflow work and busy periods. You are required to be an Australian contractor with your own ABN and the ability to issue tax invoices, as this is not a formal employment arrangement. This will mainly be a remote opportunity, but there will be potential for face-to-face collaboration at our office in Cremorne, Victoria, Australia.

With a diverse client base in industries such as retail, education, and professional services, we collaborate on a range of exciting projects that provide creative freedom across various fields of business.

We operate in an ever-changing industry, so as a result, we need some additional hands on deck that we can call on from time to time when things get busy. We are looking for freelance contractors to add to our roster that are readily available to work with Spacey Studios on User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design across website, software and mobile application projects, when required.

This is an adhoc freelance opportunity to Australian residents with a valid Australian Business Number (ABN). We are not looking to partner with other agencies or large design teams at this time.

Industry experience and a proven portfolio is essential, as we are not in the position to train freelancers prior to them commencing work with us.

Pay rate and a contractual agreement is to be determined based on skills and experience. Please notify us on your typical rate during the application process so we know your usual fees during the negotiation process.

Role Description

As a Freelance UX & UI Designer, you will play a vital role in contributing to current projects when we are in our busiest periods. Your creativity and technical skills will be put to use across various disciplines, including websites, desktop & web-based software, mobile applications and more. From e-commerce stores, through to travel booking applications and more, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of creative mediums with our team.

Collaboration is at the heart of our agency, and you will work closely with the Director, Designers, Developers, and Suppliers to support the projects reaching completion. From time to time, you may be required to engage directly with clients, actively participating in the briefing, concept design, and consultation phases. Your ability to distil feedback and produce concise work that aligns with brand style guidelines and designs tailored to the client's unique needs will be crucial. Additionally, you may be required to contribute to our in-house digital footprint from time-to-time.

Attention to detail is vital in maintaining the high standards we set for our work. Therefore, you will be expected to follow our project management processes diligently, utilising appropriate software for tracking, monitoring, and communicating all work. Version control across files and drafts will be essential to maintain organisation across all projects.

Figma is the primary software that we use for User Experience & User Interface Design, so it is essential that you have a sound understanding of this tool. Additional experience in Webflow would be favourable for some web-based projects.

This will be a remote opportunity and you will need to be equiped to work from home or your own workspace. If you live in Melbourne, you may have the opportunity to work with us in-person at our office in Cremorne, Victoria on occasion.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Advanced proficiency in Figma for all UX & UI Design processes.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite , including Photoshop and Illustrator for creation of website graphics.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with the team and clients. You should be able to convey ideas, measure your performance, provide rationales, and distil feedback.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, either in-office or remotely, while adhering to Spacey Studios' work ethics and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to think creatively and logically.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• A diverse portfolio of work that you can show to us during the application process.

Requirements

• You must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
• You must be an individual freelancer, not a design agency or team of creatives.
• You must have a portfolio with proven experience in the creative industry.
• You will need to provide us with tax invoices for work carried out.
• As a freelancer, you will need your own device and design software. We can negotiate access to certain software, if required.
