    The role you could play

    We are seeking a values-driven and dedicated Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community Engagement Worker to join our team at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Salvation Army.

    As part of the team, you will provide high quality holistic outreach support services including: referrals to Doorways and other agencies, community engagement and development of programs at Corps (church) and establish links with the local indigenous community.

    What the role looks like

    • Explore and develop supportive partnerships and relationships within the community
    • Develop new initiatives and activities that meet the needs of the community and align with our mission including Coffee and Chats, Yarning, walks, personal hygiene education, Soup Patrol Van, CAMEO community lunch and Youth Shed
    • Provide information and referral pathways to mental health supports
    • Engage in local community events, promote the role and provide an opportunity for other TSA expressions to have a presence
    • Be the TSA access point for other services to connect to the community
    • Contribute to service delivery that is of a high quality, transparent and accountable standard
    • Be a valued team member in diverse community service setting
    • Provide advice to employees and/or volunteers on services

    This is a max-term, part-time (20 hours per week) position. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award.

    This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, as TSA considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for the position under the 'special measures' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.

    The ideal candidate would have

    • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services/Social Work – minimum certificate level, or relevant experience
    • Experience in community engagement on behalf of a faith based or not-for-profit organization
    • Demonstrated understanding of the history and challenges impacting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.
    • A current and valid Working with Children Check or equivalent
    • A current WA drivers' Licence
    • Current First Aid Certificate
    • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity
