We are seeking suitable applications for a highly capable and values-driven Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist to join our State Forensics Mental Health Services Youth Detention Neurodevelopmental and Mental Health Service team.
This is a Fixed Term Full-Time / Part-Time appointment with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency to cover a period of Parental Leave, available for commencement from 30/03/2026.
About our service
The Neurodevelopmental and Mental Health Service (NDMHS) based at Banksia Hill Detention Centre provides specialist mental health and neurodevelopmental assessment and management of young people admitted to custody. The NDMHS provides mental health and neurodevelopmental triage and assessment, treatment and management, consultation and education with services in and outside of youth detention, as well as referral outwards to appropriate services upon the young person's release into the community.
What is our Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist role?
As a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist, you will work within a multidisciplinary team providing clinical neuropsychological assessment, consultation, education, and supervision, on complex neurodevelopmental, cognitive, and mental health disorders in children and adolescents admitted to custody. This position is based onsite at Banksia Hill Detention Centre. Every day at work will be different, and what you may encounter can include:
- Triage and face-to-face screening of young people referred to the service to determine suitability for further assessment.
- Providing education on neuropsychological functioning to other professionals and key stakeholders.
- Providing senior clinical neuropsychological leadership and expertise in paediatric neuropsychological assessment within the multidisciplinary team and across youth detention.
- Providing direct clinical neuropsychological assessment and management for young people and their family/caregivers.
- In consultation with the NDMHS Medical Leads and Team Leader, contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the NDMHS, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and research initiatives.
- Collaborating and liaising with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and patient-cared care for a vulnerable cohort of young people.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
