    Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist with Clinical Director Component (Orthopaedics)

    The role of Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist with Clinical Director component involves providing specialist health services to the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, ensuring appropriate, effective, efficient, integrated, safe clinical services in accordance with contemporary standards.

    The role provides Clinical Leadership and assumes overall Clinical Responsibility for the Orthopaedics Department, which is part of the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service that covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population.

    Clinical Directors provide professional oversight and leadership of clinical services, support for clinical staff, and facilitate delivery of high-quality care to patients. This position requires a temporary full-time commitment for 2 years.

    Purpose of the Role

    The purpose of this role is to ensure development and maintenance of specialist health services to the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, ensuring appropriate, effective, efficient, integrated, safe clinical services in accordance with contemporary standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    This role will involve:

    • Providing Clinical Leadership and assuming overall Clinical Responsibility for the Orthopaedics Department.
    • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients of the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.
    • Supporting clinical staff and facilitating the delivery of clinical services.

    Requirements

    To be eligible for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Hold a relevant medical qualification.
    • Have experience in orthopaedic services.
    • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Meet the vaccine preventable diseases requirements as specified by legislation/government policy and directives.
