    As our newMining Engineer , you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

    Job Description

    Whether you bring experience in underground or open-pit mining, you'll play a key role in the growth of our mining advisory business and team.

    You'll focus on all aspects of the mine operations life cycle including design, management, closure, and reprocessing.

    We'll look to you to bring experience and understanding of current industry trends and guidelines on design, estimation, planning, as well as interest in working collaboratively to find solutions to complex and interesting problems.

    Success in this role will require exceptional written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and effectively with co-workers, clients, and contractors, and a "safety-first" attitude.

    Key Responsibilities

    Specifically, you will:

    • Maintain industry leading standards for mining engineering work
    • Working with limited supervision, develop mine designs based on the information gathered or provided, depending upon the needs of the client and the scope of the project assigned
    • Mine optimization (using Whittle or similar software) and mine design, life-of-mine scheduling and Mineral Reserve estimation using current mine planning and scheduling software packages
    • Estimation of project capital and operating costs and financial modeling and analysis
    • Preliminary Economic Assessments, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies
    • Assessment, due diligence and technical auditing/review of mines and projects
    • Project management
    • Report writing and client presentations

    • Minimum of five years operational experience at operating underground or open pit mines
    • Familiar with international and public disclosure and reporting codes, including NI 43-101, JORC, SAMREC, Competent Persons Reports, and Mineral Expert Reports etc.
    • Experience with mine planning at an operational mine
    • Expert user of at least one industry standard optimization, mine design and scheduling software package such as Datamine, Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, and Whittle
    • Familiarity with the CRISCO reporting codes
    • Registered or qualified for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada or the equivalent in the USA, UK, Australia, or South Africa
    • Competent to act as Qualified and Competent Person for public disclosure of Mineral and Ore Reserve estimation in a range of commodities under Canadian reporting codes, or the equivalent in Australia and Europe
    • Frequent international travel will be required - extended periods is not the norm but may be required on occasion.
    Short term travel, often at short notice will likely be a frequent occurrence
