    Appointment Pool

    Wirrabirra Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and reliable Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

    Suitable applicants should be highly motivated; student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences.

    You will ideally utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. This will involve you reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment. You should utilise evidence-based teaching practices whilst employing a range of assessment and reporting methods. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the community to instil rigour, resilience and pride, allowing students to achieve their full potential.

    It is desirable for applicants to have experience and knowledge of working with students with special needs. It would also be preferable for them to have skills and experiences in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Strategies, discrete trial training, Direct Instruction, Key Word Sign, TouchChat, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) Books and varied alternative communication strategies both electronic and paper versions, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) (including the use of iPads, computers and interactive panels), Promoting Literacy Development (PLD - Diana Rigg), Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) and good behaviour management. Special Education Needs reporting and ABLEWA (Abilities Based Learning Education, Western Australia) curriculum knowledge is also highly desirable.

    Wirrabirra ESC is a primary school catering for students aged between four and twelve years old. Our students have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. With specially trained staff and facilities we are able to offer individualised programs that best suit the diverse needs of each of our students within a safe and inclusive environment. We share a Campus with Wirrabirra Primary School in the suburb of Gosnells. This location allows a range of opportunities for students to integrate with their mainstream peers.

    Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
