  • About the Role
    Join Swinburne University of Technology as the Deputy University Secretary, providing essential secretariat support to the Academic Senate and the University's controlled entities. Collaborate with the Council Secretary to ensure smooth operations during peak demands and absences as they support Council and Council sub-committees.

    As the Deputy University Secretary, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth functioning of our subsidiary companies and Academic Senate by coordinating annual work plans and meetings, facilitating communication, and maintaining accurate records and minutes. Collaborate closely with Company Chairs, the Chair of Academic Senate and Senior Leaders to promote transparency, strong governance, compliance, and effective decision-making.

    About You
    To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
  • Demonstrated understanding of governance, compliance and policy requirements in a complex organisational and regulatory environment.
  • Experience acting as a Company Secretary.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret existing relevant legislation, policy and relate it to work assignments; and to provide advice on policies and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence decision-making.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and handle sensitive information with integrity - including the ability to manage conflicts of interest (perceived, potential, and actual).
  • Qualifications
    Degree or post graduate qualification in a relevant field such as business administration, finance or law.
