    About the OpportunityThe Senior Cost Engineer role is a key operational role, responsible for cost controls for packages across Main Works, Cargo, Business Park and Standalone Facilities Packages.

    Reporting to the Senior Project Controls Manager and supporting key stakeholders, the position is responsible for managing cost controls and governance of packages, as well as financial and schedule analysis, report and presentation- writing, and providing other commercial insights.

    This is a maximum term position to June 2026, beyond then WSA will continue to be a place of real opportunity.


    Key responsibilities :
    Oversight and management to ensure budget, commitments and cost are accurately reflected.
    Manage cost governance by ensuring that QA reviews are completed and action taken to resolve issues.

    Ensure endorsed cost processes are followed in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures, such as management plans, change and contingency management and procurement.

    Monitoring project cost movements, working with package managers and delivery partner controls team to establish potential mitigation strategies.

    Robust review and analysis of cost performance with delivery stakeholders, providing guidance on how projects are trending and advice on how performance can be maintained or improved.

    Lead the project estimate and reforecasts to complete calculations by completing reviews with delivery managers.
    Work quantitatively and qualitatively to back findings and recommendations with evidence from a range of relevant sources.
    Ownership of the preparation and support of relevant reporting, presentation decks etc.
    ensuring quality, accuracy and completeness.
    Working with the broader Finance team to prepare and coordinate the periodic and ad-hoc reports efficiently.
    Collaborate with the Delivery Partner project controls team on schedule performance and potential delays.
    Review and provide input to program and master schedules.
    Manage competing priorities effectively to successfully deliver a diverse portfolio of responsibilities.

    Provide updates to the Financial Controller, GM Finance and Planning and CFO, working closely with the broader Finance team to ensure alignment between the finance and operations of WSA.

    Support the Senior Project Controls Manager, Financial Controller and GM Finance and Planning with presentation of outputs, changes and key information relevant to various stakeholders, including Ex Co, Board, shareholders' representatives and consultants.

    Under the guidance of the Senior Project Controls Manager and GM Finance and Planning, assist in developing and establishing governance requirements, such as policies, procedures, and reporting that will shape the outcome of WSA's Finance function.

    Support a variety of projects across the Finance team and wider WSA team.
    About YouTertiary qualification in engineering or similar.
    A minimum of 10 years ' experience in project cost management.
    Experience in the infrastructure/construction/aviation sector is preferred.
    Knowledge of industry project and program delivery.
    Experience in project controls reporting and integration between cost and time management.
    High proficiency in Microsoft Office, using Excel, Power Point and Word.
    Experience working on project management software such as Primavera P6 (preferred).

    Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly communicate key messages to a range of stakeholders (finance and non-finance) including report writing and presentation development.

    High level of ability with data analysis and interrogation of data with a commercial mindset.
    Ability to present findings in an accurate, compelling and succinct manner.
    High level of attention to detail and ability to develop error checking methodologies.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentation skills.
    Strong relationship management skills, natural relationship builder and influencer.
    Resilient and able to perform autonomously.
