    Principal Governance & Risk Officer - BCT Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water Policy, Planning & Regulation, Government - State (Government & Defence) Do you want your work to make a difference for NSW?Working to protect the state's environment and heritage.

    Principal Governance & Risk Officer Ongoing, full-time opportunity – 35 hours per week Various NSW office locations by negotiation and availability, and flexible working arrangements supported Salary relative to experience and ranges from $134,445 - $148,168 + super The Biodiversity Conservation Trust of NSW is looking for a Principal Governance & Risk Officer to operationalise the BCT risk management framework and the BCT fraud and corruption control framework.

    The role also provides critical advice and support, raises awareness, responds to ad hoc advice, and promotes a culture of integrity, accountability, and best practice.

    About You To be the right person for this role you are:a highly organised and proactive individual with a strong background in risk and governanceskilled at project management, with a capacity to plan and prioritise different moving program parts to ensure overall project deliveryable to carry out sophisticated analysis to generate insights and inform decision-makingcommitted to demonstrating the values that make the BCT a great place to worka collaborative worker with excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge and Experience Demonstrated experience in risk management Strong knowledge of fraud and corruption control and management Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field The Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a small, focused agency with a clear statutory mission and functions.

    We manage over 2,000 existing long-term agreements with landholders by actively supporting them to protect biodiversity on their land, and we have funded strategies to grow private land conservation.

    We have an important statutory role as part of delivering conservation outcomes under the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme.

    We are a group of motivated staff delivering high-integrity biodiversity outcomes in NSW, under the direction of a strong statutory Board.

    About the team This role is positioned within the Governance Team of the Strategy & Finance Branch – a high performing team that leads key enabling functions of the


    BCT:
    integrity, governance, risk, audit, and legislative compliance.
    This role is an excellent opportunity to apply your people skills to seek data from the BCT Executive, people leaders, and subject matter experts, and turn that data into meaningful advice to enable the advancement of the BCT vision and goals as outlined in the BCT business plan –

    In this role you:

    deliver the risk management function and associated activity including the quarterly review of the enterprise risk registerdeliver the fraud and corruption control function and associated activity including fraud & corruption risk assessmentprovide high-level advice on complex matters to stakeholders including the Audit & Risk Committee, BCT Executive, and Manager Governancedrive commitment and understanding of the importance of effective risk and governance practicenetwork with like-minded individuals and entities to ensure current information and best practices are applied at the BCTParticipation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) & BCT's Private Land Conservation (PLC) Programs All new employees with an existing defined interest in the BOS will be required to disclose their personal (or a close family member's) participation to ensure potential conflicts are managed appropriately.

    In some circumstances, this may require divestment of the interest.
    The BCT also has restrictions on staff participation in its funded PLC programs.

    No additional funding, beyond that already agreed to by the BCT, may be sought or approved during time as a BCT employee or for 12 months following termination of employment.
