    Job Description

    As the Company Accountant at McGregor Gourlay, you will play a pivotal role in the Head Office team through supporting the Chief Financial Officer and wider business network. Based at either our Moree or Toowoomba premises, this permanent, full-time position within the Accounting & Finance team offers an exciting opportunity for a professional with strong financial acumen and analytical skills. Key responsibilities and tasks include:

    • Supporting the CFO in managing and overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the company.
    • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and forecasts.
    • Key involvement in developing and implementing internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
    • Conducting thorough analysis of financial data to support strategic decision-making.
    • Participating in budget planning and monitoring to support effective resource allocation.
    • Supporting the CFO in providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management based on comprehensive analysis.
    • Provide assistance with half and full year end reporting, budgeting, board reporting and audits.
    • Collaborating with external auditors to facilitate annual audits.
    • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and coordinating tax filing processes.
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
    • Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams.
    • Key involvement in any financial related correspondence and other ad hoc questions relating to the operations of the business.

    The ideal candidate will possess a professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent, along with proven experience in a similar role. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential for success in this role.     Desired Skills and Experience

    • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • Preferably hold a professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
    • Demonstrable experience in a similar role within the accounting and finance sector
    • Thorough understanding of financial principles and regulations
    • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
    • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Aptitude for multitasking and meeting deadlines consistently
