    An exciting temporary position for a Senior Program Officer is available within the Portfolio Investment Unit. Portfolio Investment Unit contains three teams - Budget Development, Budget Governance and Portfolio Performance Reporting teams. This role you will work across the teams contributing to analysing and developing the Division's Infrastructure Investment Portfolio and the portfolio performance monitoring and reporting activities.

    About the Role:

    The Senior Program Officer may have responsibility for the following key tasks:

    • Review, analyse and contribute to the development of budget adjustments and submissions for the infrastructure investment portfolio (IIP).
    • Ability to articulate complex ideas and data that is fit for purpose and able to be consumed by all audience levels.
    • Interrogate SAP data to determine trends, identify opportunities and correct gaps in project budgets in the IIP.
    • Assist with the preparation and coordination of correspondence, estimates briefs, cabinet requests, submissions, reports and briefing material relating to budget matters ensuring timeframes are adhered to.
    • Interpret requests for information and provide clear, concise and accurate responses
    • Work closely with Executives, Program Directors and Project Coordinators across all work units to better manage the IIP.
    • Proactively build and maintain positive relationships, including consultation, negotiation and communication with internal and external clients, networks, stakeholders and service providers.
    • Develop and implement practices and procedures to contribute to continuous improvement of the Portfolio Investment unit deliverables and activities.

    What you need to succeed:

    While there are no mandatory qualifications, the ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following qualities, skills and experience:

    • Experience in budget management, analysis of data and trend mapping.
    • Proven data analysis, problem solving, and reporting skills.
    • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship building utilising highly developed consultation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
    • High level written and oral communication and organisational skills.
    • Experience using software such as Excel, PowerBi or others to present data in a more user-friendly format.

    The position will suit someone who has:

    • Analytical capability to quickly assess, identify gaps, investigate anomalies of large dataset and rectify identified issues.
    • Skilled at synthesising complex information/data fit for all audience levels ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Experienced in correspondence, reports, executive briefs in government agencies.
    • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing that is tailored according to your audience.
    • Skilled in data manipulation of large datasets using software (Excel, PowerBi etc) to produce reports and/or dashboards for improved customer experience.
    • Confident in establishing working relationships at all levels.
