    Description

    We are currently looking for a Mid to High Level Mechanical Draftsperson to join the R&D team to design innovative products for the 4WD aftermarket.

    You will be responsible for the research and development of new 4WD suspension parts and accessories. The role will require the ability to be very hands-on on liaising with engineers, technicians and the sales team to product development (Design/develop, prototype & test products) innovative new designs and continually improving previous designs, ideally, you have a passion for cars and particularly enjoy 4Wdriving

    To be considered for this position it is essential that you meet the following criteria:

    • Minimum 2 years of previous experience in SolidWorks
    • Passionate about 4wding and the automotive industry
    • Ability to design/draw complex 2D, 3D and assembly drawing in SolidWorks
    • An excellent knowledge of 4WD's with good mechanical aptitude and understanding of suspension and driveline requirements.
    • Confident in disassembling and reassembling vehicle suspension components
    • Ability to use workshop equipment and hand tools
    • Experience in a manufacturing/warehousing environment
    • Computer skills
    • Well-organised and able to plan and manage own workload to meet Targets.
    • Strong communication and collaboration
    • Able to problem solve effectively with the ability to make timely decisions
    • Curious and always keen to learn - Growth mindset with mentoring from senior engineers.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing tasks and priorities.
    • Physically fit and able
    • Current driver's license
    • Live locally ideally

    Not essential but highly regarded for a successful applicant

    • Previous experience in the 4wd industry
    • Previous experience in SolidWorks PDM
    • Previous experience 3D scanning (using a Leo)
    • Previous experience in ARTEC Studio
    • Previous experience operating a CNC Brake Press
    • Previous experience in sheet metal or boiler making
    • Previous experience as a 4WD accessory fitter.
    • Knowledge on manufacturing/ welding technics
    • Cert IV in Engineering Drafting

    Duties will include:

    • Designing products for the 4WD aftermarket industry by liaising with engineers, sales team and technicians for product development (Design, prototype & test product) and continually improving previous designs.
    • Design Jigs for bending and manufacturing.
    • Develop detailed 3D models and assembly with specifications for manufacturing using SolidWorks
    • Drawing 2D accurate detail manufacturing drawings including BOM, manufacturing and welding procedure.
    • Disassembling and reassembling vehicles to get the required information, and measurements to design new products.
    • Compiling (BOMs) with cost pricing
