    Position Summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen in Women's & Children's Division for a Nurse Unit Manager on Children's Ward for a temporary 12 month period commencing July 1st, 2024.

    This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a passionate, exceptional and experienced nurse manager. The Unit Manager is a key leadership role within Children's ward team and is at the forefront of the provision of high quality care to paediatric patients within the multidisciplinary environment of the ward.

    The successful applicant must have excellent organisational skills and abilities in finance, activity and access, quality and safety and workforce management. The Unit Manager is required to demonstrate management expertise, act as a mentor and a role model and have a demonstrated understanding of strategic organisational priorities and divisional business plan requirements.

    The Paediatric ward currently consists of 20 general medical/surgical beds. The ward cares for neonates <28 days old to adolescents <18 years of age. The unit caters to both emergency and elective patients from the following units, Orthopaedics, ENT, General Paediatric Surgery and Plastic Surgery, as well as Paediatric Medicine.

    To be Successful in this Role, you will need to have:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification or equivalent
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
  • Completion of Post graduate studies in Paediatric Care or equivalent
  • Demonstrated high level management skills
  • Demonstrated operational management skillset, key principle understanding and knowledge of financial, workforce, activity and access and safety and quality domains
  • Demonstrated skills and experience to manage a Paediatric Unit
  • A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care
  • Post graduate qualification at Masters Level or working towards (desirable)
  • Experience in a leadership role (desirable)
