    • Base Salary from $95, % superannuation

    About the opportunity

    The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas. With over 100 years of excellence in education, the school teaches into a broad range of courses including, medical science, applied science, nursing, physiotherapy, medicine and dentistry.

    We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for the position of Research Officer to join the team. You will be responsible for providing technical knowledge and expertise to the Chief Investigator, senior research academics and the research team to support the research of the research group. This includes actively contributing to research activities, designing research protocols, undertaking core aspects of research work and contributing to analysis and reporting of research findings.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    • contribute to the design of research programs/projects in the work area
    • conduct data analysis and literature searches, aid in preparing preliminary reports for the work area
    • conduct research work, including qualitative and quantitative data collection, as part of the broader research agenda for the work area
    • manage the development and submission of research publications for the work area
    • ensure that ethics guidelines, standards and WHS requirements are met for the work area.

    • Bachelor Honours Degree – Health Sciences or relevant health discipline (e.g. nursing, pharmacy)
    • experience in a research-intensive environment with previous experience in the collection, analysis and reporting of research data
    • experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, research design, ethics submissions and grant applications
    • knowledge, experience and appreciation of health services research and the research sector broadly
    • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
    • numeracy skills together with experience in controlling income/expenditure for reconciliation/budget tracking, and managing invoice payments and purchases
    • strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods.
    • working understanding and current knowledge of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety.
