    Position Details

    The School is seeking applications from suitably qualified and passionate candidates for the position of School Counsellor on the Primary Campus.

    This is a temporary part-time position (3 days per week, 40 weeks per year) commencing 20 May 2024 or earlier by negotiation and concluding 31 December 2024.

    Situated in the picturesque Avon Valley, 50 mins from Midland CBD, St Joseph's School is a Catholic coeducational K-12 School with approximately 780 students on two campuses.

    Selection Criteria

    Special skills are needed and applications are invited from applicants who possess the following attributes:
    Essential

    • Commitment to the values of a Catholic school.
    • An understanding of relevant legislative requirements of child protection.
    • A high level of communication skills.
    • Demonstrated skills in managing confidential information.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work with a range of people.
    • Ability to relate to young people from Kindergarten to Year 12.
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
    • Proficient in the use of Information & Communication Technology.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Ability to use initiative.
    • Capacity to work with individuals and small groups, as well as to present to larger groups when required.
    Desirable


    • Experience in a school environment.
    Qualifications Required


    • Appropriate qualification – a minimum Cert IV in Youth Work or a qualification that must include competencies in 'mental health' and 'making appropriate referrals'.
    • Working with Children Check.
    • Australian Federal Police criminal record check – CrimTrac.
