We're seeking a Learning & Development Partner with strong instructional design capability to help drive capability uplift across the McNab Group. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on designing high-quality learning experiences end-to-end, while also partnering closely with leaders to shape how capability is built across the business.
While facilitation and stakeholder engagement are important, the core strength of this role sits in hands-on design: creating learning content that is practical, engaging, and fit for purpose across face-to-face, virtual and digital environments.
What you'll be doing:
This is a design-led L&D role, not facilitation-only.
You will own the learning lifecycle from needs analysis through to evaluation, with a strong emphasis on personally designing and building learning content, including:
- Designing and developing learning programs from concept through to delivery
- Creating learning artefacts such as:
- Slide decks and facilitator guides
- Participant materials
- E-learning and digital learning content
- Translating business needs into clear learning objectives and structured programs
- Adapting learning content for multiple delivery formats (face-to-face, virtual, online)
- Conducting learning needs analyses across business units and building fit-for-purpose technical and behavioural pathways
- Partnering with leaders and HR to map capability, recommend solutions, and support progression and mentoring
- Ensuring learning aligns with organisational goals, legislative requirements and industry best practice
- Embedding McNab's values, safety-first mindset and quality-always culture into every learning touchpoint
- Continually improving content to keep learning relevant, practical and future-focused
About You
This role will suit someone who designs learning themselves, rather than outsourcing it.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in a Learning & Development role with strong instructional design capability
- Demonstrated experience designing learning for:
- Face-to-face delivery
- Virtual workshops
- Digital / e-learning environments
- Evidence of hands-on content creation (e.g. programs, materials, modules you've personally built)
- Strong capability in analysing learning needs and translating them into structured, engaging solutions
- Confidence partnering with leaders and influencing outcomes across the business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a clear, structured approach to learning design
- A commercial and practical mindset — designing learning that works in a real operational environment
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience in construction, infrastructure or operational environments
- Knowledge of legislative and compliance-driven training requirements
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
- Experience using Articulate or similar e-learning tools (highly regarded, not essential)
