    About the Role

    The key purpose of this role is to contribute to the development and execution of AGL's energy transition strategy by identifying and progressing low carbon generation growth opportunities including potential acquisitions, and the disciplined development of new generation projects. This role will play a key leading part in meeting our targets set out under AGL's Climate Transition Action Plan (CTAP), which will transition AGL's generation portfolio from thermal assets to renewable energy and storage. We are currently developing a pipeline of projects to meet our targets of +5GW by 2030 and +12GW by 2035.

    What you'll be doing:

    Project Development

    • Identify and assess opportunities to acquire new projects into the development pipeline.
    • Identify and secure new project development opportunities, including in relation to land tenure, energy resource and electricity network capacity.
    • Co-ordinate and lead the performance of internal and external resources through the development of complex power generation projects.
    • Oversee the commercial negotiation of high value contracts including in relation to land tenure, consultancy agreements, EPC, O&M and grid connection agreements.
    • Manage the internal and external resources required to obtain all permits and licenses required for the construction and operation of new power projects.
    • Develop, implement and monitor the project budgets, schedules and risk registers necessary to move projects through all development activities.
    • Contribute to the preparation of business cases for the approval of power generation opportunities, due diligence for acquisitions, provide advice on which emerging energy technologies and contractors AGL should investigate and pursue.
    • Contribute to the Integrated Portfolio Management team future portfolio planning to ensure AGL is well positioned to identify and execute power generation opportunities in the market, ensure that AGL's competitive advantages are maximized by identifying new opportunities for generation development, acquisition and investment by AGL.

    Reporting & Communication

    • Monitor and advise on development expenditures against budgets and progress, monthly performance reports, prepare communications and manage issues with internal and external stakeholders.

    About You:

    You will be a dynamic and outcome focused leader with a high degree of adaptability, commercial and strategic thinking, as well as advanced communication, interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills. Your experience successfully developing renewable energy and battery storage projects through to FID will enable you to easily mentor and guide more junior members of the team.

    What you'll bring to the table:

    • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in both business and technical related fields such as finance, commerce, engineering, environment, or science.
    • 10+ years of experience in the development of large-scale renewable generation projects, including wind, solar or storage.
    • Preference for a strong track-record in developing wind farm projects, including the identification of sites, negotiation of land agreements, selecting EPC contractors, securing planning approvals and securing connection approvals.
    • Strong commercial negotiation skills including EPC, O&M and grid connection agreements.
    • Understanding of energy markets and value drivers for large scale generation projects, in particular renewables and storage.
