    Description


    The Role

    This role is within the Warfighting Networks and Applications Support Organisation (WSO), Military Systems Division, Defence Digital Group; Department of Defence. The duties of an APS 6 ICT Cyber Security Specialist in Defence include the following:

  • Assisting in the continuous monitoring and security assessments of in house ICT systems.
  • Assisting in the research, writing and assessment of cyber security documentation, including;
  • System Security Plan (SSP), Security Risk Assessment Plan (SRMP) Statement of Applicability (SOA) and SOA Annex.
  • Various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required for the Certification and Accreditation of WSO systems, required by the WNA project.
  • Assisting in the research, selection and suitability checks of hardware and software required to support the WSO project.
  • An ability to establish positive and effective working relationships within internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines to achieve the projects objectives.
  • An ability to be proactive and a self-starter; identifying opportunities for improvement and take responsibility for own work.
  • Complete other ad-hoc tasks as required and within reason.
  • The position has some flexibility to work from home or utilise flexible working hours if required.

    About our Team
    The WSO Cyber Security team are a small team of Cyber professionals who are responsible for all aspects of the WNA Cyber Security requirements, from network certification, continuous system monitoring, equipment and software selection and general Cyber Security advice to the Director and WSO team members. We are also responsible for the development, writing and authorisation of the relevant security documentation (SOP, Instructions, Guides, Reports and returns etc.).
