The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.     The Senior Control System Applications Specialist is a member of the global Fixed Plant Control Systems (FPC) team, and is responsible for the availability, utilisation and integrity of systems and data within the process control platform application suite. The incumbent provides technical expertise and an escalation point for the global fixed plant control systems team for all matters related to these applications. The applications include Alarm Sentinel (alarm monitoring), Plant ESP (control loop monitoring), CMS (change management system), P2 Production Suite (APLUS, Shiftlog and Case Management) and various other applications that integrate to the Newmont time-series data historian, AVEVA PI System.

    Your role will consist of :


    Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

    • Provide Technical Support to the global fixed plant control systems team with application fault finding, reporting, IT support requests and defect elimination to prevent reoccurrence
    • Monitor applications and interfaces through to the PI system, validate data quality and escalate to appropriate owner when issues are identified
    • Support generation of daily, weekly and monthly reports from the application data suite
    • Plan, schedule and execute minor and major application upgrades with vendors
    • Provide Functional Processing OT application database administration and ownership
    • Continuously develop and improve the maturity of the process control platform applications to accelerate value delivery
    • Represent FPC, collaborate with IT and participate in architecture/infrastructure design and implementation of relevant virtualised environments
    • Participation in the global fixed plant control systems community of practice

    Your training, skills, and experience checklist:

    • Minimum 10 years' experience in development and support of operational technology software applications
    • Demonstrated understanding of best practice of graphical user interface design and development
    • Demonstrated experience in a range of programming languages and systems, particularly C#, Python and SQL
    • Demonstrated experience with web programming languages such as AngularJS and libraries
    • Experience with AVEVA/OsiSoft applications (including associated SDK's)
    • Experience working within a control systems function highly desired but not essential
    • An understanding of change management processes is preferred but not essential
    • Experience in gold processing preferred but not essential
    • Experience working in other regions and in multiple languages preferred but not essential
    • Strong software troubleshooting abilities in complex integrated solutions across multiple database query and programming languages
    • Strong understanding of dependent IT principles, eg. Firewalls, active directory, group policy and virtualization
    • Capable of adapting to and effectively implementing change
    • Assertive, self-motivated and able to build collaborative and productive professional relationships across technical services groups, operational sites and regions.
    • Advanced general computer competency and experienced in the use of common productivity applications including the MS office suite and Visual Basic extensions.

    • The role is global in nature, encompassing work at various sites as well as remote work from home. It demands significant flexibility in roster arrangements to meet the diverse business needs across multiple site locations.
